Aaja Corinne's Personal Style: Look #8

Yesterday's ensemble. Finals week. Gotta dress for success! Arika told me, "You are your portfolio!" She is absolutely right. If you want to be in the fashion industry, you gotta look the part. When you look good, you feel good, and that confidence illuminates from you! That's with anything. Let your work speak for who you are. You never know who you are going to meet or where an opportunity can lead you. Leave a lasting impression on all those that you come into contact with.

Style Tip #1: Make it work for you!
I originally had on a fur vest and studded flats, but it really wasn't doing it for me. At the last minute I switched my shoes and outerwear and here you go!

Style Tip #2: ACCESSORIZE!
The pearls are one necklace. Just a little accent that made a big difference.

Style Secret: When my skinny or straight legs jeans aren't quite long enough, I wear my Spectators because I like the "look" it creates. Make it work for you.

Look #8:
Blazer - Charlotte Russe, $16
Top - Charlotte Russe, $6
Jeans - Ann Taylor LOFT, $5 (final sale)
Spectators - Forever 21, $23
Pearls - Forever 21, $10

Total Cost- $60

This girl knows how to shop on a budget! Let me shop with you!!!

Aaja Corinne's New Look

This haircut is really inspiring me to recreate my image! I've found myself to be very interested in menswear-inspired looks, so I will be adding a lot more blazers, dresses, rompers, and oxfords to my wardrobe. Pictured above are a pair that I am absolutely, totally head over heels for. The Crackled Metallic Oxfords can be found online at http://www.forever21.com, $24.80. I sooo can't wait for spring! :-)

Versatility is the Key!

Three looks that I created by reworking a few key pieces. I created one daytime, office appropriate look, and two evening looks, one classic, one sassy. The key items used were the lace pencil skirt and the strapless, ruffled top. Accessories were essential in finishing the looks. And of course you know that I always have to have my splash of color! :-)

Aaja Corinne's Personal Style: Look #7

A day out on the town with my boyfriend...hints the 'Corey's Girl' shirt. :-)The plaid skirt is definitely the focal point of the outfit. Notice that the different patterns in the shirt and skirt work well together because they follow the same color story. The plaid pattern and femininity of the skirt reminded me of a schoolgirl, so I decided to build the outfit around that theme. A black vest, classic tights and flats were the finishing touch.

Look #7:
Skirt - $10 (Wet Seal)
Personalized Shirt - $16 (giftsforyounow.com)
Vest - $17.80 (Forever 21)
Tights - Bundle of 3/$4.80 (Forever 21)
Flats - $10 (Chernin's Shoe Zone)

Total Cost - approx. $60

Aaja Corinne's Personal Style: Look #6

I think that this look is my fave. I always wanted to wear leggings as pants...:-) It's my interpretation of menswear. The shirt has a picture of a vest imprinted on it, so I threw a blazer over it and added the bowtie necklace to seal the deal. I wore the white camisole underneath the tee to break up the black and bring out the white in the tee and blazer, and also to cover my backside! No leggings without long tops! I chose grey boots to break up the monotone colors as well.

Although it's not very clear in this picture, I wore pink eyeshadow to give my look a splash of color. In doing this, I kept the rest of my makeup very simple since the eyes were doing a lot, just black eyeliner and mascara and a clear gloss. Anything else would have been too much.

My leggings were thin, so I had to wear an extra pair underneath for added warmth (it's December!). I have a pair of liquid leggings that fit like gloves. They are a great option for layering because they maintain a smooth finish.

Look #6:
Blazer - $29.99 (Express)
Tee - $14.80 (Forever 21)
Camisole - $3.50 (A'GACI)
Leggings - $4.50 (Forever 21)
Leggings (not pictured) - $6 (Wet Seal)
Boots (as shown in previous looks) - $22.99 (Charlotte Russe)
Bowtie Necklace - $8 (Wet Seal)
Ring - $6 (Charlotte Russe)

Total Cost - approx. $96

Aaja Corinne's Personal Style: Look #3

After the Kullison 2 fashion show...I had sooo much fun that night...Some of the other models and I were headed to the official afterparty that we couldn't get into because we were underage...figure that. Anywho, I personally think that my hair made the outfit. You know how you got your hair done once and it was your favorite, never to be recreated again??? This is one of those times.

Look #3:
Dress - $24.80 (Forever 21)
Shoes (from Look #2) - $22.80 (Forever 21)
Necklace & Bracelet - approx. $35 (recycled prom jewelry from Peaches Boutique)

Ring - $6 (Charlotte Russe)
Hat - compliments of Tatynsia

Total cost - $90

Aaja Corinne's Personal Style: Look #2

Funny story behind this one...I was modeling in a fashion show for a t-shirt designer, didn't have any jeans, and the only jeans I could find were my friend's that were two sizes too big! So, I had to tweak the look a little bit...rolled up the pants and looped my necklace through as a chain, slapped on my pearls (my signature), and this cool headband that resembles a top hat and...KABLAM! Accessories really make the difference for this look. I had to walk this scene without makeup, but hey, it was all in the name of improvisation...

Look #2:
T-shirt - compliments of designer (99 Riches)
Jeans - compliments of Christina Mighty
Necklace (shown as belt chain) - $9.80 (Forever 21)
Pearls - $9.80 (Forever 21)
Headband - $7.80 (Wet Seal)
Shoes - $22.80 (Forever 21)

Total cost (to me :-)) - approx. $50

Aaja Corinne's Personal Style: Look #1

Because I like bright colors and funky patterns, my secret to getting dressed is to always have a coordinating feature for each element of my outfit. Without coordinating components, it's would be very easy for my outfits to look chaotic because there is too many focal points. In Look #1 (above), I emphasized the metallic silver element in my shoes, jeans, and top. I also added silver jewelry for accents. Because my outfit was fairly monochromatic, I added the yellow jacket to give it flavor. My jeans were the dominant focal point of my outfit and everything else worked around them.

I definitely pride myself on always finding a good bargain, one of the things that I wanted to share with you throughout this blog. It's not about the price, but how you put a look together.

Look #1:
Jacket - $9.99 (Forever 21)
Metallic Sleeveless Top - $5 (H&M)
Camisole - $3.80 (Forever 21)
Jeans - $35 (Rocawear; Burlington Coat Factory)
Sneakers - $35 (Coach)

Total Cost - approx. $90
